Flow-Accelerated Corrosion Assessment

Assessment of flow-accelerated corrosion and erosion-corrosion damage in piping and equipment, including susceptibility evaluation, fitness-for-service analysis, and inspection strategy recommendations for affected systems.

Flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) and erosion-corrosion can cause rapid, localised wall loss in piping systems and equipment exposed to high-velocity or turbulent flow conditions. TES Canada provides engineering assessment of FAC and erosion-corrosion damage, covering susceptibility screening, quantitative damage evaluation, and fitness-for-service analysis for affected components.

Assessment services include identification of susceptible locations based on flow regime, fluid chemistry, temperature, and materials of construction; evaluation of measured wall loss against minimum required thickness; fitness-for-service analysis in accordance with API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 where applicable; and remaining life estimation accounting for projected damage rates. TES Canada applies API 571 damage mechanism guidance alongside facility-specific operating data to characterise the damage mechanism and assess its severity.

The output provides operators with a clear understanding of current equipment condition, projected damage progression, and recommended actions — including inspection frequency adjustments, monitoring strategies, material upgrades, or design modifications to mitigate ongoing damage. Assessment deliverables are documented for regulatory compliance and integration with the facility's inspection and integrity management programmes.
